Superheroes in Court! Lawyers, Law and Comic Books Video by Mark Zaid of Esquire Comics

Mark Zaid of Esquire Comics presented a fantastic lecture for any fan of comic book history at the Yale Law School.  You can watch the video below.

Mark gives some basic history of how the modern comic book came to be, how trademarks and copyrights were secured and much more.  The lecture was titled “Superheroes in Court! Lawyers, Law and Comic Books” and he was kind enough to post the video copy online.

Iron Man 55 Values Falling

After the impressive upswing in Iron Man 55 (first Thanos) sales prices, it appears the party may be over. The Avengers movie stoked the hype on this book, but a look at actual sales, giving us a realistic marketplace value, the data is in and it doesn’t look good.

In early 2012 this comic in CGC 9.6 was selling in the thousand dollar range. After the Avengers movie selling prices went through the roof, topping at $2,100 mark in July. In the last month prices have are in the $1,600 range. The buyers at the $2,000 range took quite a hit. Watch to see how this plays out as we approach the movie.

X-men 141 Values on Fire

On the heels of the X-men Days of Future Past movie announcement, X-men comics associated with the storyline are on fire!

I’ve been watching issue of X-men 141 (one of my all-time favorite X-men covers) and the values of this book over the last few weeks have been nothing but amazing.

X-men #141 in CGC 9.8 was selling in the $200-$225 range in late July. A copy sold this evening (September 12) for $380. An impressive value increase. Keep watching this comic over the next year.
